March 15 1806

My Dear Sir

After a very boisterous passage through the channel and below Cape Finnister we are advanced thus far in our voyage without incident.  We parted from under convoy of Sir Richard Strachan so suddenly that I had not a moment to write but one letter which was to Mrs Bligh from whom I hope you will have heard of me. I have had a severe time with my poor little daughter, for sixteen days I could scarcely keep her alive and she still continues very weak, but I have every hope of her, except a thorough removal of the sea sickness.  My own health has been tolerable until the weather became hot, which as usual has produced violent headach and even feverish symptoms - these however I hope
