Providence at Port Royal
April 13.th 1793.

Dear Sir
                             By the last Packet I informed you of my having happily completed the Voyage, I am sure it will give you much satisfaction. I have now the pleasure to tell you that from all the accounts we have the Plants are thriving delightfully, we may therefore consider the Breadfruit already established in this country.
                                 I should have sailed from this on the 1.st, but the Packet bringing the account of the War, has induced Commodore Ford to detain me untill [until]  he considers my proceeding homewards to be attended with less risk. All the Squadron are now at Sea, & in consequence the Providence wears the Broad pennant. Two small Sloops & a Schooner are the only prizes yet sent in, and eight of the same class were taken at Kingston. -- Reprisals were ordered on 30.th last -- the French in Highspaniola [Hispaniola]  were apprised of the War
