Director Yarmouth Roads

Feby. 12 - 1797

Dear Sir

I have very unexpectedly received received order to sail under the directions of Captain Parr who commands the Standard, - the Lion is to accompany us, & we are to proceed to the Humber, and lie there untill [until] further orders, to protect the Place and Trade.

Admiral Duncan is arrived here from Leith in the Glenmore, bur he goes to Town about Tuesday.  All accounts from the Texel state that the Dutch are laid up, nevertheless, the People here are very much alarmed from an apprehension that the French will pay them a Visit.   I find I am disappointed in getting this on shore, which I did not expect, but the Standard has got under way without making any signal to us, & we must follow him - I am therefore obliged to defer concluding my letter - untill [until] we get to the Humber.

Humber Tuesday 14th

We got safe here & moored Yesterday Morning
