June 10th 1800

My Dear Sir

I am very much obliged to you for the pains you have taken to consider and represent to me by your letter of the 6th Instant how much you approve of my map representation of the ship's Tract to St Helena.  I am always more confident in my proceedings when I have the happyness [happiness] of your kind  favour of judging of them, and I am glad to have anticipated what you have said to me on the benefit to be derived from such method as I have produced to elucidate the difficulties attending travelling to Sea.  I assure you my Dear Sir it has often taken up my sole attention, and see that volumes which have been written on Wind and Weather require so much time to digest & memory to apply
