          The Nymph Frigate has gone to Bengal for that purpose, it is said they write for 40 Sacks of Rupees, which sum will I fear [indecipherable] them to be exported in Cash.  At the same time the Scarcity of Rice here, would amount to Famine, if Bengall had not sent within these 6 Weeks 60,000 Bags of Rice to Madrass & Cuddalore.  Yet, Genl. Coote with a good Supply of Rice did not venture to rise the Siege of Tyagar which fell a few days ago (abt. 12) and Hyder has broke that Capitulation by forcing the Ceapoys to serve him, and it is said has put the Officers in Irons.

          Generall  Cooke was unlucky in meeting  with bad Weather which I believe forced him to return (for he marched that way).

          Not a letter reached us from C. Baillie or his Officers; it is confidently said they are all in Irons.

           About the 15th Currt. several bodys of Hyders Now under Meer Saib his brother-in-law, Attacked our Camp at Cuddalore, we only lost 1 Ceapoy killed, & 5
