Norfolk Island July 20th. 1794
Dear Sir
I cannot omit this Opportunity of offering my best & sincere Wishes for your health & am sorry that the Short time I have to finish all my letters will not permit me to say more than to assure you of my Respect.
Our Crops have been wonderfully productive 35,600 Bushells of Maize & this Wheat this year & our Island not a Tenth part clear.
We want at least 3000 More Men here - to Clear the Island and [indecipherable] the produce Some Industrius Settlers are also Wanted not Soldiers - I have a Number of Boxes of Flax plants raised from Seed ready to send by the first Opportunity I have transmitted a Box of Dressed Flax &c to Port Jackson to be sent home if it should be approved of at Port Jackson.
