letter to me which I have this Instant received & if possible will send the intelligence That is collected from the People who are returned; to parramatta  The Specimens of Stones &c shall be forwarded to you by the Greenwich as well as such other information as may be communicated between this & her departure which will be about Feby - before which time I hope he will make some more very important discovery In hand -  

We have now got about 12,000 Vines in the 1st  & 2nd Year of Growth Thus far the Plants are good & if no accident happens by Blyghts there is a good appearance of having some Grapes this Year from our Old Vines but they are very few

I am going on with a New Settlement which lyes in the Range of Pennant Hills & Hawkesbury - I have a Hundred Acres in Grain there Three Hundred Head of Cattle & Two Hundred  Men comfortably lodged  When I say I have I Speak as the Public Servant, for I have not a  Stick or Stone Private Property in the Colony - Our Harvest will turn out tolerably Abundant, for the long drought we face had nearly four Months without any Rain - Now that a total Stop is put  to the infamous business of Spirits, we still do well & every Man will soon feel the good effects
