in having smaller yellowish flowers with narrower [indeciplerable] segments, but as in that species, solitary large & nodding; in [indeciplerable] short. ....color and equidistant leaves the 5 to 7 uppermost, or floral ones, being verticilated. A most singular and very doubtful circumstance on my plant is, that my specimens want bulbs - perhaps actually they have none - their root being slender with villous fibres!! so that the species might be considered as intermediate between Lilium and Uncularis! As sure and certain as I shall transmit Litchee - seedlings in such a manner as to exclude the probability of a final failure, so sure shall I have the happiness also to present roots & seeds of this Lily to you my illustrious and venerated Patron & Benefactor. I shall exert myself to the utmost degree to realise your wishes relative to the Litchee - plants, and I am bold enough to encourage myself with anticipating the most perfect success. But on this subject I will, with your permission, have the honor of addressing you on another occasion.
