1   [Newbery  will?] Rudd mark Last
2  had the Ewe Comptons Brand on her
3   will an Ewe that has been a year in a Flock beat all Str averse  to associating with it or remember the Flock She came from

o  was any accusation made before made against Spikens honesty

o  would he not have rather stolen a Sheep  from a Stranger than a Neighbour whose house Stands close by the Lane which Spikens Sheep Come up from the Fen

Compton admits that he saw the Ewe in Spikens Flock on the 3d June before clip day John Fox when of Course all the marks of her being Comptons Property were visible upon her

John Fox advised him & he agreed to wait till She was Clipd & her marks of Course Cut off before he Challengd her in order that Spiken might be allowd to do an act of ownership by Clipping & branding her & be the more liable to be Convicted of Sheep Stealing

it is a most  necessary  mischievous Transaction, to Levy such a [nep? ] in a Neighbor

Every man might in Comptons Case to have had Charity towards his neighbour & believd rather that he had taken the Ewe by mistake than with a felonious intent  it was his Duty to bring forward to his neighbours as many proofs as possible of the Ewes being his & his Conduct in deliberately waiting till by the Shearing of the Sheep the Ruddle mark & Brand were defaced is highly blameable

was I a paid Jury man I should be more inclind to find a bill against Compton & [Tax?] for a Conspiracy to be against Spikens for felony

I intefere in this Case not as an individual attempting to make up a dispute between my neighbours that could imply a possibility Compounding a Felony but at their desire I am willing to tell them what I would do on my oath as a paid Jury man if the Evidence was brought before me
