I shall set of from the Hawkesbury a proceed towards the Carmarthen mountains and if I am so lucky as to get there by a favorable route and in due time I shall proceed from thence to the westward or to the most promising part of the country.
You must excuse me for saying that botany is not the primary object but that is on an enthusiastic pride of going farther than any person has yet been. My party is but small only 3 men besides myself. If no misfortune befalls us & the weather is favorable I trust I shall compleat my wish. Though I said Botany was not the primary object yet I shall gather every plant that is new - but the specimens will be very small ones on the account of being portable.
So I conclude by hoping that the results of the present journey will be highly interesting to you and prove of importance to the colony.
I remain as always
Your faithful servant
