1787 No 1.

Cape of Good Hope Nov. 9 1786

Sir

We have had no English Ships here for some months and as I have a considerable collection of seeds to send home I have though that it might be proper to send a small Packet by a Dutch ship.  Colonel Gordon has been so good to send it under cover to the Messrs. Hopes Merchants in Amsterdam who are his corrospondents & will forward it to your hand.

It is now a very busy time with me I have been some weeks in the country, and Am going again on another Journey in a few days when I return I shall write more particulars & send you my annual Accounts.

I am Sir Your Most obedent
Humble Servt.
