Cape of Good Hope 6th August 1790

Sir.

My last was by favour of Capt. Raven of the Jackal, Whale Fisher, who took charge of a small packet of Seed containing 41 Sp.  As his Ship lay in Soldanha [Saldanha] Bay I did not think it prudent to send a larger parcel.  There was two ships in company and has been as far as Tierra de Fuego [Tierra del Fuego]. One Arrived here yesterday, being in want of water, and I have thought expedient to venture a box of Seeds by her as no oppertunities [opportunities] is likely to happen for several months to come.  The box contains 200 Sorts of which I here inclose [enclose] a Catalogue.  A box yet remains containing upward of 300 Sort which I shall forward by the next opportunity.  In this collection you will find Seeds of Strelitzia lutea which perhaps you have never seen.  It is a very Singular Seed, and my be wanting to compleat [complete] the character of the Genus.

The Ship who brings this is the Southampton Commanded by Capt: Moorhead bound to to the said place.  Direct to him at Mr. Thomas Potter Southampton.
