1787 No. 2

Cape of Good Hope 20 Janry 1787

Sir

I have just time to write a few lines by Mr. Gott Passenger on Board a Danish India Ship, who has also taken charge of a small parcell of seeds (receivd) for you.

I have now several packets of fine seeds ready to send home but I am sorry to hear that no English ships are expected to touch at the Cape, so that I have no other chance but by sending small parcels by passengers on board Foreign Vessels.  I have drawn upon you a Bill of twelve hundred Rix Dollars to the Order of Mr. Jacob Wedelaar, who also takes charge of a Box of Seeds, he will writ to you as soon as he arrives in Europe, and will send the Box according to your directions.

I am Sir your most obedient
humble Servt.
