Cape Good Hope April 19 1786

Sir

I send by favour of Doctor Anderson of the Navy a box of seeds containing sixty two Species some of which are only duplicates of the last parcel which was by Mr Daniel of the Francis East India Ship.  I have nothing new to inform you of only the arrival of Col. Gordon from the country who desires his respectful compliments to you.  He has been five months out but has brought nothing new in the Botanical way only a number of figures and discriptions of new Animals which are very interesting  He has brought two fragments of Stone from the Caffre land with long inscription on then of some language unknown to us some of the letters has some similitied [similarity ?] to Arabic.  I Have promised to procure a Box of Reeves's colors for Col: Gordon he being badly provided with that Article. If you hear of any certain opportunity for the Cape it would confer a great favour on me by sending me one.

I am Sir your much obliged
Humble  Servt
Frans. Masson
