Cape of Good Hope 12th Feb. 1790

Sir

I had the honor to writ [write] to you last by Mr. Farquharson late purser of the Guardian who was passenger on board a French Frigat (the Driad) by whom I sent a Small collection (35 Sorts) and also my two last years accounts, and a power of Attorney empowering Messrs. Coutts & Artobus to draw for my annual Salary. This will be delivered by Mr. Hayward late Midshipman of the Bounty, who seems to be good young man, he has taken Charge of a box containing about forty Sorts of Bulbs;  I should have sent may more things by him had he been bound directly to England.
