Cape of Good Hope 11 July 1787
Sir
My last was by Sir John McPhearson with a box of Seeds containing about Sixty two sorts. I should not have troubled you by this channel of conveyance but being a little uneasy, on account of not receiving any letters from England, or any intelligen whatsoever. So that I conclude that all my letters have passed the Cape. I have now only to mention, that there is no certain way but by Send them to Holland under cover to the Governor of the Cape who has been to good the to give me a proper Address. As the Dutch Ambassador in London corresponds with him, he would be a good person to forward them. I am now busy adding living plants to my collection which now begins to be considerable shoud a good opportunity happen to bring them home? I long to hear what success Mr. Aiton has had with the Seeds.
