getting this order of Council, & tho' King the Under Secrettary has promised to procure it, it is still to do. To get him the Rank of Post Captain is what I have more correctly solicitted, but witht. effect.  Can you, my Dear Sir, render him any service, either as to Rank, or the getting the Half Pay about 5 yrs of which, at 5/- a day, is due?  Your letter, from him, & one or two others I inclose, he writes badly, but he is an honest man, who is faithfully discharging the trust reposed in him.

The Alexander is nearly ready for Sea & I leave town the latter end of the week, I am fitted for foreign service, but know not when I am to go.

Mrs Phillip unites in compliments to Lady & Miss Banks & to yourself with Dear Sir

Your obliged friend and
most obedient humble servant

A Phillip
