southern extremity of the Cordeleras [Cordilleras] which I brought from the City of Santiago in Chili [Chile] 30-leagues inland, and besides the old plant being still very healthy there are several young one growing from seeds - the Wintera Aromatica & other plants from Chili and some few Evergreens from California &c are also likely to do well. Though I have to lament the loss of many a beautiful plant, in which I am confident you will join me, when you see my dryed Specimens and rough drawings of them, which I long to lay before you.
