sight and later Cape Nelson. I spent most of the afternoon on deck to have a look at old and familiar views. At tea-time we were abreast Cape Bridgewater. About 6 pm we had passed Cape Bridgewater. The light of Cape Nelson showed out fully half an hour before we had passed the Cape. About 8 we were out of sight of the Nelson light.
The ship is not going full speed owing to the port engine being defective and only run at a very low speed.

Dull & cloudy but fine. Most of the troops were up very early this morning in anticipation of getting ashore today, for there is always a lot of work to be done before disembarkation. Blankets and hammocks to be handed in and stored also table utensils and everything to be left clean. I woke up at 6. And we were then abreast of a little fort with a small lighthouse and about 3 ½ hours from the heads.
