The Button Puzzle

There are two buttons, one on each loop. The loop is attached to a piece of wood with three holes in it as shown. There is a half hitch in the middle, and the string is tied securely at each end of the wood. The puzzle consists in placing the two buttons on the one loop.

Plant 4 small trees equal distance from each other.
