heard to-day that there were some casualties in the firing line. expect to go out to-night from reserves for
8 or 10 days spell.
12/9/16 Looks very much like rain this morning. quite last night, no balloon visibal [indecipherable] for observations but [indecipherable] continued a fairly constant fire for about an hour, we are all packed ready to leave, 5 o'clock. I hear that our guns put a couple of gun batteries out of action yesterday our guns opened out very constant for about a couple of hours this evening. We left the reserves about ½ past 10 o'clock and got [indecipherable] the camps about ¼ past 3 o'clock this does not seem a bad camp. We are supposed to be here for about 12 days.
13/9/16 Got up at ½ past 11 this morning. We do not hear any of our guns here, but may do so after we get more accustomed to the place, we came part of our journey in the train from Ypres yesterday, caught the train out of Ypres about a ¼ of a mile, continued fine with not doing anything yet.

15/9/16 wet cold, day nothing doing.
16/9/16 cold, nothing doing, sports this afternoon, made a bet & gave 2 to 1 - 20 to 10, that we are still in France or Belgium after 1st November, 1916. sports this afternoon
17/9/16. Sunday church parade 9.15 fine afternoon remainder of day quiet
18/9/16 A very wet & cold morning, we have a wet canteen now it started a day or two ago, good beer is being sold, quite remainder of day, but rain still continues.
19/9/16 Fine morning went on route marching this morning, rained part of the day, just after we came home about ½ [indecipherable], but did not last long, Moore went today to brigade cooking a good job. Can hear guns pretty constant mostly our own, hear good news of the fighting at the Somme.

21/9/16 nice fine morning sports to-day, Mooney came back.
