5.8.1916 Today is General Walkers review. Told us that the 2nd Division gained two important positions. Far. Sgt of 3rd Bty, Severe repremand. Went to ordnance to get some horse shoes. Very difficult to got, in great demand
6.8.1916 Likely to move any day now. Reveille at 4 A.M. Three hours Battery manoeuvre. In our last stunt at Contalmasion we fired 10,000 rounds
7.8.1916 Nothing doing, only the regular routine, Battery drill. Fine dry weather. A new O.C. of Bty- Capt Taylor from D.A.C
8.8.1916 Battery drill, from 12 till 3. P.M. This village St Leger is on the Somme. Rather old and out of date. A few large munition factories on the outskirts, making sand bags. Mostly female labour and old men employed.
9.8.1916 Brigade parade, all day. Got back to camp at
