maddening especially as it seems they are stolen somewhere, probably at the Base P. Office & it seems some a swinish thing to do. They are down at the Base fairly comfy & within reach of things and they can't keep their hands off things sent to fellows up here who are living in draughty & damp dugouts & only the army rations to eat. I can't think of anything rottener than that.

I have had a bit, Mrs. Brine sent me socks & Hefty Lasham a cake twice & someone sent me my favourite tobacco. Also Miss Redford sent socks & cigarettes. Its awfully cheering to get so many things & to know people are
