as the sole object of Government in chartering this vessell [continuing?] in our service at a very considerable expence is to Furnish the West Indian Islands with the Bread Fruit & other valuable productions of The East  The Master & Crew of her must not think it a greivance to part with give up the Best part of her accommodation for that purpose  The difficulty of carrying plants by sea is very great   a small sprinkling of Salt water or even of the salt which Fills the air even which generally Falls whenever in a moderate gale is able will inevitably destroy them if not immediately washed off with fresh water   it is necessary therefore that the Cabin be appropriated to the sole purpose of making a kind of Greenhouse & the key of it given to the custody of the Gardiner
