During the time in which intercourse between me and the Officers of the Porpoise was prohibited, Lieutenant Ellison by the Order of Captain Kent, at the request of Major Johnston, left the Porpoise (where he was Second Lieutenant) and took the command of the Lady Nelson Tender.  In consequence of this, Captain Kent wrote to me to know how he was to act with respect to him, the Vessel and Lieutenant James Symons.  In reply to which I Sent him orders, that Lieutenant Ellison, and every officer of his Majesty's Ship Porpoise must occupy their respective Situations agreeable to the Establishment.

It appears from the correspondence marked B, which I include between Captain Kent and Lieutenant Symons, that the latter asserts he was discharged from the Porpoise, which assertion is not correct.
