     John Adams having expressed a desire to learn the various events that had taken place since his leaving England, we supplied with some magazines, which would give him a very good insight into them.

     I believe he is the only one capable of writing, or keeping an account of time on the Island: if a discreet person could be selected, who would voluntarily quit his native Country, and reside amongst these interesting people, it would be of infinite advantage to them in their moral duties, as well as in instructing them in reading and writing. Paper, and a few chosen good Books, would doubtless be very useful to them, Bibles, Prayer Books &c. -

     Maze or Indian Corn is not known there, Breadfruit, and their very fine Yams, are an excellent substitute for Bread, but the Indian Corn I am convinced would be a great
