Soho Square

Mr Masson
I have asked his Majesty for permission for you to return home in consequence of the indifferent state of health you have lately suffered which has prevented you from doing so much for the Royal Gardens as you always usd to do when in health & have receivd a most [indecipherable] answer you are therefore at liberty to come home whenever you choose & by such conveyance as may best meet your convenience if you receive this in time you will probably choose to bring home the collection you have made in the present season.
Mr Aiton, Mr Dickson & most of your friends are well & will be glad to see you. Mr Forsyth who died last year has been succeeded in Kensington gardens by Mr Aiton.
We have received lately an infinite number of new & fine plants chiefly from N.S.Wales & China. I think our gardens are in greater beauty this year than I ever remember & have seen them.
