Question - Are you of Opinion that if the Ship was in any other port than this, that the greater part of the Ship's Company would desert through that Cause.
Answer - One Man has already deserted since our arrival and another attempted to do so - that much murmuring has existed among the People which leads me to suppose that might be the case.

1st. Question - I saw him once at Night when the Ship was in Simon's Bay, but no duty was going on at the time.
2nd. Question put - He does not know of any wasteful expence of Stores but recollects that Captain Short asked him, after leaving the Cape of Good Hope to expend 2 Musquets in a Boat that was swamped there which he declined as the Musquets were not lost.
