that it was his wish to proceed to Port Jackson in the Sinclair without touching any where as he had sufficient Water, I told him any conversation I held must be considered private, but advised him as the Owners might suffer so much to write me a Letter pointing out in the strongest manner the injuries that might happen and when I received it he might depend I would consider and give him a speedy answer (meaning to acquaint you with the contents of the Letter for your advice), this he promised me he would do in a day or two as he wished to look over his Papers and consult a Gentleman on board who would give him advice.

I was much surprized yesterday in the room of receiving the Letter from him to hear him talk as he did, and return me an order I had given him for our mutual protection on the 2d Instant saying positively he would not obey it; I told him if he wanted to part Company he must state his reasons to me, otherwise he should not with my consent
