As the order for his liberation graciously sign'd by your Emperor, was forwarded by me and deliver'd to General De Cane by an English Flag of Truce I cannot by any Arguments I can devise, make them believe that the General would have disobey'd the Emperors order, unless he had been furnish'd with private instructions from some other part of the French Government.
