I beg you to accept my best thanks for the magnificent present I have receiv'd from you, the whole of it however, was not intirely new to me. Your Learned Colleague my ancient Friend, who never omits an opportunity to oblige me had sometime before furnish'd me with the larger part of the Cahiers.
It would give me sincere pleasure to procure for you the passport you wish for, but the feelings of the Government of this country, are at present so utterly averse to the granting of such passports, that I dare not even ask it.
They resent the detention of Capt. Flinders
