I am directed to acknowledge the receipt of your Letter to His Excellency of the 10th Instant in reply to one from Captain Kemp of the 9th which I inclosed [enclosed] to you on the first mentioned date.
In adverting to all the circumstances, His Excellency most earnestly recommends that cordiality to subsist which ought to do in every Regiment, and more particularly in the New South Wales Corps, and as He is disposed to think there is a misunderstanding on your part, directs me to inform you, that the communication from Leiut.t Col. Paterson, Lieutenant Governor at Port Dalrymple, to Him as Commander in Chief, was not leave for Captain Kemp to come here and not do his duty as a Captain, but to remain here in that Capacity as an acknowledgement for his long Services at his Out Post, subject to my approval, requesting, at the same time, an Officer to be sent down to occupy his rank and Station so soon as it could
