Brief memorandum relative to HM Ship Bounty & the mutineers of her Crew, Previous to the Visit of Sir. H.[T] Steinesly [Staines] & Capt. Pipon to Pitcairns Island.

His Majesty's armed Vessel the Bounty, sent out in the Year 1787 for the purpose of conveying Bread Fruit Plants from Otaheite to the British possessions in the West Indies, was taken from under the Command of Lieutenant William Bligh in a Mutiny headed by Fletcher Christian, her Mate, on the 28th April, 1789, when the Vessel was off the Island of Fofoa, and the Lieutenant with X eighteen of the Crew were compelled to quit her in the Launch, under circumstances which are detailed at length by Capt Bligh in the account published of his Voyage
The following particulars of the Proceedings of the Mutineers & of their fate & that of the Vessel are collected from Papers in the Admiralty.
