Wuniebone Tribe
Mr Walter Grant Tully of Talawanta
kindly supplies the following
vocabulary of words used by the
Wuniebun tribe which he states
occupied the country about Bourke
and Cobar
There is no doubt that the
Wuniebun tribe of Mr Tully is Identical
with the Wonghibon Tribe which has
been referred to more than once in
our columns by Mr A. L. P. Cameron
and which that gentleman described as
being constituted on exactly, or
almost exactly, the same lines as the
Wiradhuri, which joined them on the
East, and with which they intermarried.
Like the Wiradhuri, the Wonghibon
appears to have been a very large tribe
as their territory started on the west
side of the W Lachlan River, at a point
as far south as Booligal, and extended
as far, at any rate, as Bourke, and
had within its Boundaries such towns [as]
Mossgiel Ivanhoe Nymajee Cobar
Burke + Nyngan.
