before they were half way in. the Wadi was congested with troop & horses with riders asleep wandered from one troop to another, it was very amusing to see someone wake up & ask where he was to find himself with the wrong Bde. I had a busy time checking sleeping Head Qrts men whose horses took a fit to roam; it was rumored in El Arish that we had 2000 Turks held up but were beat for rations & the Scottish Infantry who marched in to E Arish as we left for Maghaba volunteered to march out & carry rations to us, however horsefeed was ordered to be sent out to us as they thought up til the last that we would stop out all night
