We had a very trying nights ride as we had all been on the go from since "stand to Arms" at 5 oclock yesterday morning, just at daybreak we struck the Wadi one mile south of El Arish crossing the wadi we spread out & soon had a large circle around the town, three Turks on camels trying to get away found themselves inside the screen & made back to the town where they surrendered, the Regiments took up positions on the hills a mile or two to the East of El Arish
