camp on the salt lakes, there were about a dozen old boats in good order & fishing nets lying on the beach as though the Bedouin had left in a hurry. The New Zealanders were camped here for some time, the lakes are full of fish & we sighted a large fish very close & in shallow water. I jumped off my horse & shot it through the eye, we then cut its head off with a bayonet cleaned it & brought it back with us we saw the remains of one of our planes burnt on the beach but we decided it would be too late when we returned if we went on to the ruins so we fed our horses, had dinner & came back arriving in Camp soon after 4 oclock.
