at El Arish or this side & we do not want them to retire, apparently our heads appear to think we can take them all prisoners if they wait till we are ready;

At 8 oclock this morning Jack Hillier & I left Arnussi & went into Mazar passing a large number of Infantry & Artillery on the way amongst these are three 60 pounder long range guns; We found Mazar quite a little township & a very busy centre, after a good deal of inquiry I found where the spare goods of the 1st Bde was dumped but no wire so took the Sergt (a Tommy Artilleryman) with me to the dump on the platform
