War & therefore to direct people's attention & all state energies towards that end.

At present sailing along the coast of S. Africa with Durban Lighthouse just sinking astern. Hilly country - many villages & fine scenery apparently.

We all have pleasant - very - recollections of the kindness of the Durbanites. Durban a very pleasant city - rather warmer and moister than Sydney. Greenery everywhere. Roads very fine - some blocked, most asphalted.
