On Wednesday night I met Merrifield at Criterion Restaurant, Picadilly near Tube, & had afternoon coffee & war cake. We then walked thro St James Park & afterwards had dinner at "The Florence" a beautiful white & glass room. Then we went to the Playhouse near the Embankment to see "The Passing of the Third Floor Back" - a very splendid serious society play. The artists were all stars.
