Kamilaroi is spoken by the aborigines on  

the Namoi Bundarra and part of the  

Barwan and Balun rivers, on the  

Liverpool plains, and in the valley of the  

Hunter as far down as Black Creek.

      The aborigines of Australia have no  

written language; their sounds may be  

represented by the following English letters:

5 vowels a, e, i, o, u 16 17 consonants b, d, g, h, j, k, l, m, n, ƞ, o, p, r, t, v, w, y.

pronounce ā as a in father.

" a as a in at.

" ē as ey in obey.

" e as e in net.

"ī as i in navine
marine 

" i as in in it.

" ō as o in tōne

" o as o in on.

" ū as oo in moon.

" u as u in fun.

" ai as i in wine.

" ao as ow in hour.

" oi as oi in noise.

g as in go, never  
as in ginger

ƞ or ƞ as ng in sing.
