Wednesday 2 August 1916
Some of Squadron out on a stunt. On stables in morning. Taube flew over so had to spread out with horses. Our guns had shots at it. Turcks entrenched about 6 miles away. Can hear war ships bombarding them. All heavy sand here but no dust.

Thursday 3 August 1916
Loading Machine Gun belts. In evening were claimed by regt. as fight expected. Bill Graham & Halliday, Hull & I tried to stick together. All got into B Squadron but others went into A Troop & I into D (Ron Mac's).
Others left soon after midnight for firing line.
