                                   Nuts.

Burrawong  Grows in clusters

in palm tree - staple food.

picked in August - November_

Yellowish about size of walnut

large quantities picked by woman

Cracked.  Nut extracted & pounded

between stones lightly making  

a light disc - a great many at  

a time. Soaked in running water

four or five days. then taken out

& ground up between two stones

into a thick paste or dough, then  

made into long damper, about

2 ft. in length then wrapped in

piece of paper bark - & tied up

securely & put into red hot

ashes & cooked - final result

is sort of dark damper_ During

the Burrawong season the people

are in good condition.

Large quantities of these nuts are buried
