I did not forget to suggest to Mr Stephens your wish that Mr Nichols might be employed instead of Mr Cadel, & begged to know if he had any idea that such a change would be displeasing to any one; he told me he was well assured that neither Lord Keppell or any one concerned in the business had any wish about it, & that he would in consequence of the intimation I had given him endeavour to bring that matter to bear, tho' it was rather unlucky that Mr Cadel had been employed to publish an advertisement to inform the publick, that an authentick account of the voyage was in hand, & would be published with as little delay as the nature of such a work would
