If Captain Cooke had returned home I suppose that he would of course have had the whole, therefore his family seem to me entitled to at least two thirds, perhaps to 3. 4:ths, but who is to have the remainder whatever it shall be? Captain King is certainly the next claimant, but is there anyone else that has an equitable title to a share? Captain Gere came home first in command, but I really don't see that he has any merit with regard to the publication, nor do I believe that he thinks about it.
