Dear Sir Joseph,

In the letter I had the Honor to address to you in October last, I gave you some intimation about Dr. Wallich and his Employment in the Botanicaal Garden;  and I am happy to say a longer acquaintance has very much strengthened the good opinion I so early expressed of him: -  He is a Most Zealous andd Successful laborer in the field of Science, and Botany in particular is likely to be enriched with the produce of his researches. -  He is Making great Exertions to improve our Indian Workmen in the Art of Etching and Engraving:  and has ventured to give to the public, through the Medium of the Asiatic Society's Transactions, the first fruits of such an Undertaking; - and he has Expressed a great desire to have a Specimen of this production laid before you; -  but doubtful, with what propriety he could address you on the Subject, I do not hesitate in taking the liberty thus to introduce Doctor Wallich to the Honor of your Notice,
