The Ship thus takes home this has just brought in news from India of the most agreeable nature, every Settlement thriving & as contented & happy as possible --

Pardon one for troubling you to look over the enclosed Copy of a Letter I have had the happiness to receive from Lord Cornwallis it is not from vanity I send it but from a warm wish of continuing to appear well in the Eyes of a Man I respect & honour & for whom I shall ever retain a true sense of Gratitude for his indulgent assurance of regard
