Friday

No fatigues today for a wonder. In morning we go for a route march to Canniers, a village about 3 miles down the road. New church, single street, Pond. Rest beyond the village &amp retrace steps. In aft. retire to sandhills & loaf. Bob getting tired of being separated from his mates. After tea Tony &amp self go to Army P.O. &amp post Stan's letter, green envelope. Sergt. secures us a supply.
Russians begin a big offensive about this date. Capture many Austrian prisoners.
