along the line & met the linesman from Bde H.Q. repairing a break about a mile from Bde. sig Office, it was then dark & I had 3 miles to come back over strange country but I took good care not to get too far East & eventually found half a mile West of the Camp & was here halted by a Tommy Outpost, was having tea when the line broke again so Olson & I mounted up & went out again & found the telephone line about 2 miles from Camp tapped in & found the Bde linesman had mended it so we returned arriving back in camp at 10 oclock tonight. The troops had to take
their horses to railhead (2 miles) to water this afternoon as the wells are hardly ready.
