My dear Judge
I am now with the 56th Bn. 14th Bde. 5th Divn. Things were altogether too vague and unsatisfactory from my point of view in the old Bn. and so when 5th Bde. offered me a chance of a Company in the 56th with permanent rank of Captain and a shadowy possibility of promotion I did not feel justified in allowing sentiment to persuade me to refuse. Of course it hurt and still hurts to have to leave the 17th but there are far greater possibilities here. The senior officers are young and very keen. The
